Four New Fashion Brands Set To Hit Westfield St James Quarter
Calling all fashion lovers. Edinburgh’s shopping scene is about to get even more interesting, with four new brands heading to Westfield St James Quarter. TALA, Subdued, Rains and Harli + Harpa are all set to open stores in the capital, bringing everything from London-born activewear and Italian fashion to Scandinavian outerwear and Australian jewellery.
Together, the four new arrivals will add more than 7,000 sq ft of new retail space to a destination that already counts Sephora, & Other Stories, Zara, Coach and BOSS among its fashion and beauty names. And there are some notable firsts, too. TALA, the British activewear brand founded by Grace Beverley, has chosen Edinburgh for its first standalone store outside London, while Subdued and Harli + Harpa will make their Scottish debuts.
Here’s what you need to know about the new names coming to the capital.
TALA: From Instagram To Edinburgh
Tala began life in 2019, founded by entrepreneur and fitness influencer Grace Beverley with the aim of creating performance-led activewear using more responsibly sourced materials. Since then, it has expanded beyond the gym into everyday clothing, with collections spanning leggings, sports bras, knitwear and wardrobe staples.
The brand has built a following around flattering cuts, technical fabrics and clothing that works just as well outside the gym. Its approach to activewear has helped turn what began as a digitally led business into a growing physical retail operation, with stores on London's Carnaby Street and at Westfield London.
Its new Edinburgh store will be its first outside London, allowing Scottish customers to shop the collections in person rather than exclusively online or through existing stockists.
Subdued: Italian Style Arrives
Subdued is another name worth knowing, particularly for younger Scottish shoppers. Founded in Rome in 1994, the Italian label specialises in contemporary fashion aimed at teenage girls and young women, taking its cues from youth culture and the everyday wardrobes of its customers.
Expect casual separates, fitted tops, denim, dresses and trend-led pieces, with a distinctly youthful Italian sensibility. The brand already has an international retail presence, including stores in London, Paris, Milan and New York, but the new Edinburgh store will mark its Scottish debut.
For anyone familiar with the brand from shopping trips abroad, it will be a welcome addition to the city's fashion offering.
Rains: Copenhagen Meets Scotland
Founded in Denmark in 2012, Rains has made a business out of turning practical waterproof clothing into something so much more stylish.
Drawing on Scandinavian design, its collections combine super clean lines, minimalist silhouettes and technical fabrics, with everything from waterproof jackets and coats to backpacks, luggage and accessories. It also offers insulated outerwear and ready-to-wear for men and women.
Harli + Harpa: Jewellery To Know
Harli + Harpa is an Australian jewellery brand making its Scottish debut in Westfield. Established in 2024, the brand specialises in accessible fashion jewellery, with collections designed around layering, stacking and mixing pieces together. Its extensive offering includes earrings, necklaces, rings, bracelets and personalised designs, alongside waterproof jewellery intended for everyday wear.
With everything from delicate hoops and pendant necklaces to more statement-making pieces, Harli + Harpa is affordable gorgeousness. We love it for treating ourselves and for thoughtful gifting.
A New Chapter
What makes these latest additions to Westfield St James Quarter particularly interesting is the variety. TALA brings a British activewear success story, Subdued will be loved by young shoppers, Rains offers contemporary outerwear with genuine practical appeal, while Harli + Harpa adds an accessible new jewellery offering. All four stores are expected to open soon, although individual opening dates have yet to be confirmed. Watch this space.
