Glasgow’s Most Beautiful Aparthotel Has Just Had a Major Glow-Up
There is a certain kind of Glasgow building that stops you in your tracks. Grand entrances, soaring ceilings, intricate detailing — the kind of places that remind you just how glamorous this city once was. And now, one of its most iconic addresses has been completely reimagined.
Native Glasgow has unveiled the results of an extensive refurbishment, transforming its A-Listed St Vincent Place home into a sophisticated nod to the city’s Art Deco past.
Housed within the former headquarters of the Anchor Line Shipping Company — a landmark building dating back to 1855 — the aparthotel has long been one of the city’s most stylish places to stay. But this latest redesign feels like a real evolution.
Inspired by the opulence of 1920s ocean liners and Glasgow’s rich maritime heritage, the new interiors blend period character with a softer, more contemporary luxury. Think walnut, marble and antique brass alongside boucle textures, velvet seating and warm earthy tones that make the whole space feel elegant without ever becoming formal.
The refurbishment includes a newly redesigned lobby, additional penthouse apartments and an updated collection of one-bedroom stays, all carefully created to retain the building’s original architectural features while introducing a more elevated “home from home” feel.
Designed by DRG’s in-house team, the scheme also quietly champions Scottish creativity throughout. Textiles from Glasgow design studio Timorous Beasties sit alongside artwork from local artists celebrating the city’s architecture, culture and creative identity.
The result is a space that feels distinctly Glasgow — confident, characterful and rich in history — while offering the kind of design-led stay experience more often associated with boutique hotels in London or New York.
For anyone planning a city staycation, weekend shopping trip or stylish overnight in Glasgow, this is one to have firmly on your radar.
