Glenlyon: A Highland Secret Woven in Tweed
In partnership with Glenlyon Tweed Mill
A Highland Secret Woven in Tweed
Nestled in the enchanting town of Aberfeldy, Perthshire, a hidden gem awaits your discovery. Stroll along the picturesque, wooded trails of The Birks of Aberfeldy, where cascading burns weave through lush, mossy glens, or savour a smoky dram at Dewar’s Distillery. Book lovers will find solace at The Watermill, a charming indie bookshop set in a beautifully converted mill. Yet, the true treasure lies just beyond, at the foot of the Moness Burn.
At the heart of this breathtaking landscape is Glenlyon Tweed Mill. Here, exquisite stock and traditional estate tweeds—woven from the fleece of hardy Cheviot sheep in tones that echo the rugged landscape—are crafted with meticulous care.
“It feels like stepping back in time, while embracing a future dedicated to protecting and preserving one of our most traditional skills,” shares Vixy Rae, Creative Director of Edinburgh’s tailor Stewart Christie, established in 1720. Along with like-minded partners, she acquired the mill just six months ago, bringing together two iconic Scottish crafts under one roof.
