Notting Hill’s Eggbreak Lands at The Spence – And It’s Everything
Just as the finishing touches were made to the new floral display outside Gleneagles Townhouse—and yes, it’s as gorgeous and Insta-worthy as you’d hope—I made my way inside to discover what all the fuss was about with the new Eggbreak Brunch pop-up at The Spence.
And honestly? Worth the hype.
This cult Notting Hill brunch spot has made its way north for August only, bringing a menu that feels fun, fresh and properly comforting. I started (traditionally, of course) with an Earl Grey tea, while my tablemates were all about the Iced Matchas. I was quickly persuaded into a Strawberry Sunshine Iced Tea, which turned out to be exactly the kind of sweet, refreshing pick-me-up that brunch dreams are made of.
My House Quinoa Granola was a sweet-yet-virtuous blend of date yoghurt, orange and blueberries. But the real star? The Wilde’s Deli Sunrise Shakshuka. Rich spiced tomato sauce, poached eggs done just right, and a cheese toastie on the side that was perfect for scooping up every last drop. (You can swap the toastie for salt beef, but I had zero regrets.)
If you’re an Eggbreak fan from its London days, you’ll be thrilled to know that signature dishes like the Eggbreak Benedict, Nutella French Toast and Turkish Eggs have all made the journey north. There’s also a Mexican Omelette with avo, feta and a bit of kick, and Ari’s Pancakes—fluffy, fruity, and finished with salted caramel butter.
Everything feels effortlessly cool, but it’s the kind of cool that still feeds your soul. It's breakfast, but better. Plus, no London-style queue out the door – just warm service and a table beneath that dreamy glass dome.
Running daily until 30th August, the Eggbreak takeover is here for a good time, not a long time – so book yourself in, order something with a poached egg, and enjoy a little slice of Notting Hill in the heart of St Andrew Square.
You’ll thank me later.
