Why I’m Sticking with Dr David Jack’s Daily Skin Trio
By Nicola Campbell
I’ve been using Dr David Jack’s Daily Skin Trio on and off since March 2024. But I dipped in and out of it. Mistake. I am now a dedicated fan. Yes, this easy step-by-step skincare routine is a skin saver in the short bursts like I was doing, but committing to it long term is a total game changer.
I’ve always been a little laissez (if not downright lazy) faire when it comes to my skin. Facialists over the years have been known to look slightly horrified as I reel off my routine. Cleanser? Yes, if I have one. If not, I’ve been known to grab a simple soap. Toner? Rarely. Exfoliation? No thanks — my redness is red enough. Serums? Occasionally, if one lands in my lap. Moisturiser? Always. But brand loyalty? Never.
Having met and listened to Dr David Jack several times, I’ve realised I’ve been doing my now maturing, rosacea-prone skin no favours. Skipping around products and routines has got me nowhere. What I needed was something simple, consistent and designed to work as a system. Now, I’m a complete convert.
Step 1 (AM): Good Morning — Advanced Antioxidant Serum
This is my skin’s daily wake-up call. Lightweight and silky, it absorbs instantly and leaves skin with that fresh, clean glow that makes you feel a little more “together” before the day even starts.
Formulated with a potent blend of Vitamin C, niacinamide, azelaic acid, and hyaluronic acid, it helps to brighten, strengthen and protect the skin barrier. It works like an invisible shield against pollution and daily aggressors while hydrating and calming irritation.
My take: When I first started using it properly, I noticed how my skin tone looked more even — less blotchy by mid-morning, and that dull, greyish tone had softened. It’s one of those serums you can actually see working after a few weeks.
“After cleansing, every skin type should look to use an antioxidant serum … to protect your skin against daily damage.” — Dr David Jack
Step 2 (AM): All Day Long — SPF50 Moisturiser
This step used to be my downfall. I have always moisturised but unless I’m on holidays or that Scottish sun was blazing I’d skip SPF. But this all-in-one formula one has completely converted me.
All Day Long combines hydration, protection and radiance in one lightweight formula. It feels like skincare, not sunblock — and that’s key. With SPF 50, blue light filters and hydrating actives such as hyaluronic acid and azelaic acid, it defends against UV, environmental stress and screen exposure without feeling greasy or heavy.
My take: It’s one of the few SPFs I actually look forward to applying. It glides on easily, sinks in fast and doesn’t leave a white cast. It makes skin feel smooth and calm, not suffocated. I wear it every day now — even when it’s grey outside.
“SPF is the most vital and only essential skincare product for any skin type.” — Dr David Jack
Step 3 (PM): Good Night — Advanced Retinoid Cream
This is where the magic happens overnight. A gentle yet effective retinoid cream, Good Night supports cell renewal, smooths texture and softens fine lines — all while keeping the skin barrier calm and hydrated.
It uses a next-generation, plant-based retinoid along with niacinamide, azelaic acid and peptides to encourage healthy turnover without irritation. There’s no dryness, no peeling — just gradual, visible improvement in tone and texture.
My take: I love how this feels at the end of the day — nourishing but never heavy. I wake up to skin that feels smoother and calmer, with that healthy, rested look that makes me think “this is working.”
“Night creams are richer than day creams since your skin renews itself quicker at night with increased rates of cell division and sebum production.” — Dr David Jack
Why the Trio Works
Each step has a purpose — protect, shield, repair — and together they cover all the essentials without any of the confusion. The ingredients have been chosen to complement one another, building strength, balance and radiance over time.
“I’ve worked to create a streamlined regime that fulfils your skin’s daily needs with three core products you can easily maintain over time.” — Dr David Jack
For me, it’s the consistency that’s made the difference. My redness is calmer, my skin tone is more even, and the texture feels smoother and stronger. It’s the first time in years I’ve actually stuck to a routine — and I can see why it’s designed this way.
MY Additional Step: Supernova Antioxidant Cleanser
Although not part of the core Trio, Supernova has become my daily first step — and it’s too good not to mention. This antioxidant cleansing gel removes makeup and impurities without stripping the skin. It uses gentle resurfacing acids, antioxidant oils and hydrating ingredients to keep the barrier balanced and clean.
What I love most is that it can double as a quick five-minute mask to help brighten and refine, or simply be used as a daily wash. It leaves my skin feeling fresh and soft — never tight or dry — and perfectly prepped for the Trio to follow.
It’s the cleanser that’s finally made me ditch my “soap if desperate” habit for good.
