The Alchemist Arrives in the Capital

Today, Edinburgh welcomes another new cocktail bar and casual-dining restaurant to its burgeoning scene as, The Alchemist opens its first venue in Scotland, and just in time for the spooky season.

Representing an investment of £1.5m, the 170-cover site is one of the premier spots in the new St James Quarter and set to become a popular destination; all-day relaxed dining, think fish and chips, burgers, steak sandwiches, chocolate brownies, sticky toffee puddings…and a few good vegetarian and vegan options too.

But it’s the cocktails that are the main event and each member of the Alchemist team is fully trained in the dark art of molecular mixology. Theatrical and dramatic, each cocktail brings mystery and intrigue presented in vessels orchestrated to add a devilish dash of theatre, they bedazzle, bewitch and set the scene. Whether you choose to experience The Alchemist’s renowned chemistry & theatre, or sip on something simply delicious with less smoke and mirrors, there is something for everyone.

Jenny McPhee, Brand Director, said of the opening: “From ancient alchemists to modern mystics, Edinburgh’s association with alchemy spans thousands of years and the city has long been described as a hotbed for spirituality - what better place to open our first Scottish site?

“We know we’re going to feel right at home here and look forward to welcoming Scots seeking an unconventional drinking and dining experience to The Alchemist Edinburgh at St. James Quarter.”
