Coastal Calm: Introducing Scottish Abstract Artist Holly Ferrie
Longniddry-based abstract artist Holly Ferrie is making waves across East Lothian and beyond with her joyful, colour-driven artwork inspired by the rugged local coastline. After taking a break from her career in Interior Design to raise her two sons, Holly began painting — a creative outlet that quickly evolved into a small business rooted in passion, colour, and community.
Working from her home studio, Holly creates affordable and accessible art for homes and businesses, blending colour, texture, and emotion to reflect the ever-changing moods of the sea. Whether through her expressive seascapes or bold palette knife pieces influenced by her design background, each artwork captures a moment of calm, energy, and connection to place.
Her work recently caught the eye of several businesses, with commissions for Laings the Jewellers, DoubleTree Hilton, and most recently eight bespoke paintings for Cala Homes' West Calder showhomes — a milestone Holly describes as a true “win” moment.
From windswept family beach days to peaceful shoreline reflections, the East Lothian coast is at the heart of Holly’s creative process. Her pieces bring that same sense of contentment and joy into the spaces they inhabit.
