Curated in the Square Returns — Aberdeen’s Sparkling Christmas Market Unveils Its Line-Up of North-East Creatives
Aberdeen’s festive scene is about to shine brighter than ever. The much-loved Curated in the Square is back — this time with a brand-new home and an even bigger line-up of north-east makers, producers and creatives ready to transform Marischal Square into a Christmas market brimming with local magic.
From Thursday, November 13, through to Hogmanay, Marischal Square will play host to six weekends of festive shopping, food, drink and design as part of the Aberdeen Christmas Village. The move marks an exciting new chapter for the event, organised by Charlie House in partnership with Aberdeen Inspired, Aberdeen City Council and Codona’s.
This year’s market will showcase more than 50 independent traders rotating across 28 beautifully dressed chalets — each weekend offering something fresh and unexpected for visitors to discover. Expect a mix of art, jewellery, homeware, clothing, crafts, food and drink, all celebrating the creativity of the north-east.
“The selection process was more competitive than ever,” says John Brebner, Chief Executive of Charlie House. “We’re delighted to showcase such a high-quality mix of stalls. With a new line-up each weekend, there will always be something different for Christmas shoppers to enjoy.”
For Brebner and his team, Curated is about more than just shopping. Every purchase supports Charlie House’s mission to raise funds and awareness for children and families across the region. “The continued support from stallholders and shoppers means so much to us,” he adds. “It helps make a genuine difference.”
Shoppers can look forward to familiar favourites such as Sarah Leask Studio, Arctis Design, and AberK9Treats, alongside exciting new faces like Lily & Co Goat Milk Soap (handcrafted from their own herd), Spice Harmony Chutney, and Little Dreamers Play Kits, whose creative boxes for children make perfect festive gifts.
“Once again the range and quality of stallholders shows how blessed the north-east is with talent,” says Adrian Watson, Chief Executive of Aberdeen Inspired. “Curated In The Square gives shoppers the chance to find truly unique, home-grown gifts — and it brings thousands of visitors into the heart of the city to enjoy everything Aberdeen has to offer.”
This year’s move from its traditional home in the Marischal College quadrangle — due to restoration work on the Mitchell Tower — has allowed the team to reimagine the space. Codona’s decorating and tech crews are already hard at work creating a new festive backdrop designed to dazzle.
“The new location has thrown up some challenges,” admits Alfred Codona, Company Director, “but we’re really excited about transforming Marischal Square into something special.”
With its glowing chalets, artisan gifts, and festive food and drink, Curated in the Square promises to be the highlight of the season for locals and visitors alike. A celebration of community, creativity and Christmas spirit — and the perfect reason to spend a winter weekend in Aberdeen.
