Hood's Ultimate Guide to the Royal Highland Show 2025
In Partnership with the Royal Highland Show
From Scottish food heroes and countryside fashion to hands-on fun for kids, here’s everything not to miss at this year’s Show.
Scotland’s favourite summer day out is back. The Royal Highland Show returns to Ingliston from 19-22 June, packed with flavour, flair and family-friendly energy. Whether you’re in it for the prize-winning livestock, the street food and sampling, or a countryside shopping spree, we’ve got your go-to guide for the best bits.
Meet the Foodie Stars
Zoe Cuthbertson – Bakkafrost Scotland
Zoe’s on a mission to show how simple, delicious and nourishing Scottish salmon can be. Head to her Fish for Health demo to catch clever prep tips and recipes designed for busy families and sporty teens alike.
Grady Reid – Tarragon Catering
Fresh from the QMS Scotch Beef Club Kitchen, Grady’s all about flavour-first dishes that make the most of quality Scottish meat. Think tender beef, bold sides and summer-ready plating.
Jenny Thomson – Courses for Cooks
If your idea of joy is a table filled with home bakes, oatcakes and local jams, don’t miss Jenny’s take on Scottish afternoon tea. Classic, comforting, and beautifully put together.
Family Fun: For the Wee (and Not-So-Wee) Ones
Whether you're corralling toddlers or entertaining tweens, the Royal Highland Show has something for every age and energy level. Children 15 and under attend for FREE!
RHET Discovery Centre
Here you can expect hands-on foodie fun like pizza building, smoothie blending, and sushi rolling with Seafood Scotland. For the little animal lovers, Mabel the Milking Cow is back (yes, she squirts!), and the Countryside Area offers wildlife trails, bug hotels and the ever-popular alpaca encounters.
Mini Rovers (Motor Zone)
Let them take the wheel (literally). Kids aged 4 to 10 can drive their own replica Series 2 Land Rover around a twisty, obstacle-packed course. Equal parts thrilling and adorable, it’s great for building confidence and coordination — and even better for burning off energy.
Tractor Ted (Agricultural Area)
The UK’s most-loved green tractor is making tracks to Ingliston. Head to the Agricultural Area for the Tractor Ted stand, where little ones can enjoy interactive farm-themed games and activities that celebrate healthy food, outdoor fun, and life on the land.
There’s also soft play for under-8s, circus skills, face painting, and creative crafts — plus plenty of picnic spots for a well-earned ice cream break.
Shopping at the Show: From Taste to Textiles
If you’re here to browse, buy or just discover your next obsession, the shopping scene at this year’s Show is the best yet.
Scotland’s Larder
This is a must for artisanal food and drink — expect cheeses, baked goods, cured meats, small-batch spirits and a tasting theatre line-up that’ll inspire your next dinner party.
The Home & Gift Hall
The Home & Gift Hall is a beautifully curated edit of covetable lifestyle brands. From handcrafted homewares and clothing to luxury candles, textiles, artwork and clever kitchen finds, it’s your shortcut to thoughtful presents (for yourself or others). Expect well-loved Scottish makers alongside fresh finds you’ll want to follow home.
Style in the Stalls
It’s not just about wellies — although you’ll find the finest of those, too. This year, you’ll also find high-end fashion from countryside favourites Holland Cooper and Fairfax & Favor, plus plenty of boutique labels with cashmere, accessories and waxed outerwear for stylish Highland wandering.
