Looking polished while staying practical is the secret to great RHS style. Discover the investment pieces and styling tricks that work beautifully for a day at Ingliston.

There are few events in Scotland’s social calendar that capture the spirit of country style quite like the Royal Highland Show. A celebration of heritage, craftsmanship and timeless rural fashion, it’s also become one of the key style moments of the summer season — where polished tailoring meets practical elegance and tweed feels as relevant as ever.

For Jade Holland Cooper, founder of Holland Cooper, the show is more than just a date in the diary. With Scottish tweed mills playing such an important role in the brand’s DNA, returning to the Royal Highland Show feels like a natural fit. Known for creating impeccably tailored pieces that blend classic country style with a modern, fashion-led edge, Jade’s signature aesthetic has become synonymous with elevated British dressing.

As she returns to the show this year, she shares what she loves most about RHS, the key trends she’s noticing this season and her ultimate guide to mastering effortless event dressing — from timeless tweed blazers to the perfect boots for a full day on your feet.

How excited are you to be returning to RHS this year?

I'm delighted to be returning to the Royal Highland Show this year. It's such an iconic celebration of Scottish heritage, craftsmanship and country life, all of which feel incredibly close to the heart of Holland Cooper.

Tweed has always been a cornerstone of our brand, and we work with some exceptional mills in Scotland to create many of our signature fabrics. Our tailoring and tweed pieces are a key part of the Holland Cooper aesthetic, so it's wonderful to be part of an event that celebrates these traditions while bringing together people who share a love of timeless British style.

What is it about the show that you love so much?

It celebrates the very best of Scottish heritage, craftsmanship and rural life. As a brand, we have long-standing relationships with Scottish mills and tweed is a huge part of our DNA, so there's a real sense of connection for me.

It's wonderful seeing people come together to celebrate traditional skills while also embracing modern country style. It feels really authentic and aspirational.

What do you personally like to wear to RHS?

I always lean towards classic tailoring with a country-inspired twist. A beautifully cut blazer, a great pair of trousers or jeans, and a statement tweed piece are usually my go-to.

The key is finding that balance between looking polished and being practical enough for a full day outdoors. Our Astoria Knee Boots are perfect for days outdoors — they look chic and are incredibly comfortable, which is so important when you are spending the day on your feet.

Of course, being the middle of June, we're often lucky enough to enjoy some wonderful weather, making it the perfect opportunity to wear a dress. Our latest occasionwear collection is ideal for this, offering effortless elegance while still feeling relaxed.

I love styling a dress with a pair of trainers and a tweed blazer draped over the shoulders — it's a timeless look that feels both sophisticated and practical for a day at the show.

What trends or styles are you noticing people wearing this season?

There's definitely a move towards investment dressing and timeless pieces that will last beyond one season and work hard for you in your wardrobe.

I'm seeing lots of tailored separates, elevated denim, heritage fabrics and a softer approach to layering. People are becoming more thoughtful about building wardrobes with versatile pieces that can be styled in different ways.

Why is layering key to a great outfit?

Layering is what brings an outfit to life. It adds depth, texture and personality, transforming simple pieces into a look that feels considered, polished and effortlessly elegant.

I always start with a beautifully tailored blazer or coat and build the outfit around it, as tailoring is the foundation of a timeless wardrobe.

From a practical perspective, layering is essential for outdoor events, particularly in the UK where the weather can change throughout the day. Combining tailoring, knitwear and heritage fabrics creates a look that feels both sophisticated and versatile, allowing you to adapt effortlessly while still feeling confident and comfortable.

Layering also works beautifully for occasion dressing. A sharp blazer in a bold or vibrant colour draped over the shoulders instantly elevates a look, while providing an extra layer when needed. It's these thoughtful finishing touches that make an outfit feel both chic and practical.

What makes an outfit feel great for women when they’re dressing for an event like RHS?

For me, it’s all about striking the perfect balance between style, comfort and confidence. The Royal Highland Show is a full day outdoors, so you want an outfit that feels polished and put-together, but is also practical enough to wear from morning through to evening.

Our Field Blazer in a beautiful green tweed is the perfect example — it pairs effortlessly with jeans and new linen shirts which are both practical and chic, and when styled with our Bridle Boots, it creates the ideal look for the Royal Highland Show.

Timeless pieces are always at the heart of how I dress — beautiful tailoring, heritage fabrics and well-cut silhouettes that flatter and make you feel your absolute best.

I also believe it’s important to dress appropriately for the setting while still staying true to your own personal style. The most successful outfits are often the most effortless; they feel elegant, versatile and allow you to simply enjoy the day without ever having to think twice about what you’re wearing.
