Old Course Hotel Unveils Scotland’s Most Advanced Spa Experience
The Kohler Waters Spa reopens following a five-month transformation inspired by ‘Coorie’ — the Scottish art of warmth, comfort, and sanctuary.
Following a remarkable five-month renovation, St Andrews’ Old Course Hotel has reopened its award-winning Kohler Waters Spa, unveiling Scotland’s most advanced contrast therapy experience. Centred around a striking KLAFS-designed snow and sauna cabin, the spa invites guests to alternate between heat and cold to boost circulation, aid recovery, and restore balance.
Recently named ‘Scottish Spa of the Year 2024’ by The Times 50 Best UK Spa Guide, the rejuvenated spa now fully embraces the spirit of ‘Coorie’ – celebrating the comfort and sanctuary found after facing the elements. Guests can move seamlessly between warmth and chill, before retreating into serene spaces designed for calm, connection, and reflection.
“Coorie” Comes to Life in St Andrews
“Our spa transformation embodies both the invigorating and nurturing aspects of Scottish wellness,” says Phyllis Wilkie, General Manager at the Old Course Hotel. “We’re creating a sanctuary that celebrates both movement and recovery — challenge and indulgence — all within easy reach for guests across Fife, the Central Belt and beyond.”
Among the new thermal experiences are an upgraded hydrotherapy suite, the UK’s first Espuro Foam Experience Steam Room, and tranquil relaxation areas with soft furnishings, herbal teas, and soothing ambience.
The treatment menu now features luxury brands Omorovicza, GROUND, Margaret Dabbs, and Phytomer, all chosen for their commitment to nature and sustainability.
Cold-Water Wellbeing Meets Contrast Therapy
Expanding its wellness philosophy, the hotel has partnered with Anna Deacon, Scottish cold-water advocate and author of Taking the Plunge, to launch a new series of seasonal wellness retreats.
The inaugural ‘Step into Summer Retreat’ debuts on 2nd May 2026, hosted by Anna Deacon and Louise Minchin, the celebrated broadcaster and endurance athlete. The retreat will explore active wellbeing through contrast therapy, cold-water swimming, yoga, and mindful photography — offering guests a deeply restorative weekend in St Andrews.
Rest, Restore and Reconnect
Retreat prices start from £385 per person, with spa day packages like ‘Exhale’ (£155) and residential escapes such as ‘The Perfect Break’ (from £485 per couple) allowing guests to unwind and reconnect with nature in the heart of St Andrews.
With access to exclusive snow and sauna cabin sessions from £50 per person, this new chapter for Kohler Waters Spa invites visitors to embrace Scotland’s landscape, its rhythms, and the healing power of contrast.
