The 6 Autumn Accessory Trends Worth Knowing Now
From woven bags and supersoft suede to ankle boots you’ll wear on repeat, these are the accessories giving autumn wardrobes a lift.
Autumn is when accessories really come into their own.
A great shoe can make last year’s dress feel current again. A textured bag can add polish to jeans and knitwear. And suddenly richer colours, suede, boots and sparkle all start to feel very appealing.
Ahead of our recent Hood Meet the Editors evening at Dune, I spent time in store with manager Kirsty pulling together an edit of the pieces that caught my eye.
What emerged were six clear accessory trends — all capable of making the clothes you already own feel a little newer.
Woven bags
The Deliberate bags start from £99. We love the large, £129, one for making a statement.
Texture is one of autumn’s easiest wins, and Dune’s Deliberate woven bags, from £99, do it brilliantly.
I love them in chocolate, camel and tobacco shades — colours that work just as well with jeans and trainers as they do with a long wool coat and boots. And or a colour injection try the red.
They feel polished without being too precious, which is exactly what I want from an everyday bag.

There’s a little Office Siren, a little Mad Men energy to it, especially in deep oxblood.
That rich red works beautifully with black, navy, grey, camel and chocolate, making it one of the easiest ways to bring colour into an autumn wardrobe without overthinking it.
The slipper Out & About
Comfort wins. Hurrah. These backless mules are faux-shearling lined and ready to go. Dune, £109
I’ve been loyal to ballet flats for years, partly because in my head I’m doing noughties Kate Moss, but mainly because my feet appreciate it.
Now the slipper has officially left the house, with suede mules, shearling-lined loafers and soft flats all feeling very current.
Wear them exactly as you would a loafer: with jeans, knitwear, socks and an oversized coat.
Suede

Few things say autumn like suede.
Dune’s Deserving suede bag, £189, was one of my favourites from the edit because it is unbelievably soft. The green adds a useful pop of colour, while the brown tones will work with almost everything.
And a knee-high suede boot remains one of those pieces you can return to year after year.
Ankle boots
Ankle boots will take you everywhere this autumn. Wear with jeans or skirts and dresses - just add tights.
The ankle boot is still the autumn workhorse.
Wear it with jeans and a trench by day, or tights and a dress at night.
The heeled ankle boots in my edit are £159, with supersoft leather, a pointed toe and a heel height that feels genuinely wearable. And the heel shape? Well, this season it is the Banana.
Exactly the kind of boot you end up reaching for several times a week.
Embellishment

Sparkle is not waiting for Christmas this year.
Embellished kitten heels and evening bags are coming through much earlier, and the most modern way to wear them is casually — with denim, tailoring or knitwear.

The best part? None of these trends requires a whole new wardrobe. Sometimes one great shoe or bag is enough to make everything else feel fresh again.
