This winter, Spectra returns to Aberdeen with its most curious, creative and captivating programme yet — and Hood has teamed up with the festival to give one lucky family the chance to experience it all.

From fire-filled gardens and giant glowing nocturnal creatures to interactive digital artworks that respond to your movements, Spectra transforms Aberdeen’s city centre into a must-see winter playground. Now in its 12th year, it’s one of Scotland’s most loved cultural events — and the perfect excuse for a family getaway.

The Prize

One lucky winner will receive:

  • An overnight stay for a family of four in Aberdeen

  • Return train travel for the whole family

  • Time to explore Spectra’s free light installations across the city from 5–8 February 2026

With travel and accommodation covered, all that’s left to do is wander the illuminated streets, discover fire-lit gardens and experience art designed to surprise and delight all ages.

  • To enter the competition, participants must answer the question and subscribe to our newsletter.

  • The prize is as stated - travel and an overnight stay for a family of four to see Spectra in Aberdeen during the dateline of February 5th to 8th, 2026.

  • The winner will be selected at random from all valid entries received during the promotional period. The closing date of the competition is midnight on Thursday 22nd January 2026.

  • The winner will be notified via email within 24 hours of the closing date. If a winner cannot be contacted or does not claim the prize within seven days of notification, we reserve the right to withdraw the prize from the winner and pick a replacement winner.

  • The winner will be contacted by a representative from Spectra.

  • Hood Digital reserves the right to cancel or amend the competition and these terms and conditions without notice in the event of a catastrophe, war, civil or military disturbance, act of God, or any actual or anticipated breach of any applicable law or regulation or any other event outside of the promoter’s control. Any changes to the competition will be notified to entrants as soon as possible by social media.
