A Taste of Winter by the Sea: The Seafood Ristorante’s New Seasonal Menu Has Arrived
There are few places where winter feels as magical as St Andrews’ waterfront, and even fewer where the food holds its own against that view. The Seafood Ristorante — the glass-walled jewel perched above West Sands — has unveiled its new Autumn/Winter menu, and it’s a love letter to Scotland’s cold-season larder.
A Coastal Kitchen in Its Element
Executive Chef Davy Aspin and his team have crafted a menu that leans into the richness and comfort of winter cooking while keeping the restaurant’s signature coastal elegance. Think responsibly sourced seafood, warming flavour pairings, local game, and the kind of dishes that make you grateful for crisp days and early sunsets.
An Expanded À La Carte for Every Occasion
At the heart of the offering is a newly expanded à la carte menu, giving diners more choice than ever. Whether it’s a lingering weekend lunch, a special celebration or a spontaneous midweek dinner, the experience can be tailored to the moment — from a single standout dish to a full multi-course journey.
The Dishes to Know
Hand-Dived Orkney Scallops arrive with a whisper of white curry - delicious. Oh and the Smoked Haddock Chowder is the type of comforting bowl you want after a walk along the beach. The East Neuk shines through in the Lobster Spaghetti, enriched with a spiced bisque. The Anstruther Crab Risotto — gently spiked with chilli and softened with mascarpone — is winter indulgence at its best.
There’s also Shetland Cod with gnocchi and chicken butter sauce, and a beautifully rich Ardverikie Estate Venison served with potato terrine and a glossy sauce poivrade.
A Set Lunch That Feels Like a Find
For those after a lighter — or quicker — option, the team has introduced a curated set lunch menu, served daily from 12pm–2:30pm. Priced at £40 for two courses or £45 for three, it offers exceptional value while still showcasing the restaurant’s hallmark craftsmanship and quietly luxurious approach.
Seasonality, Sustainability and a Sense of Place
Owner Stefano Pieraccini describes the new menu as a celebration of Scotland’s coastal winter produce, designed to give guests “the freedom to experience our food in a way that best suits their occasion.” It’s a sentiment that feels fitting for a restaurant so deeply connected to its landscape and seasons.
