Celebrate UK Coffee Week with the perfect espresso martini recipe

Whilst the celebrations for UK Coffee Week 2020 have been postponed until later in the year, there’s no reason why you can’t still participate in the appreciation of some amazing coffee recipes - hey, if anything, it gives you more time to perfect them for when the celebrations can officially kick off, right?

Our favourite coffee-based recipe is, of course, an espresso martini. And we love this twist on the classic, using Scottish dry gin Oro in place of vodka to give your espresso martini a velvety smoothness like never before. The cocktail has a smooth, light texture with the flavour swinging back and forth from coffee to gin, losing all of the bitterness, yet retaining a lovely coffee aroma.

Try it this weekend and let us know how you get on - we’ve got a feeling this will be your new favourite, too…

Ingredients (one serving):

60ml strong Italian coffee - ideally fresh and made in an espresso machine

40ml Oro Gin

10ml Monin Gomme Syrup

Coffee beans (to garnish)

Ice

Method:

  • Fill your cocktail shaker with ice, then pour the coffee, Oro Gin and Monin Gomme Syrup on top.

  • Shake hard for 12 seconds, you want the ice to break up a bit, which will chill the drink and create that lovely frothy top, then double strain into a coupe or martini glass.

  • Garnish with a few coffee beans and serve.
